- Toss it out: If it has holes, rips, tears, burn marks or any other damage that would prevent you from wearing it again.

Throw your costumes out if they're damaged... unless you went as this guy, then it probably just enhances the costume!

- Donate it: If it’s in good condition but you just don’t think that you’ll be wearing it again. Somebody else would love to snag it up at the thrift store next year. Or, if you have kids, organize a costume swap with a few other families.

- Keep it if: You have kids that like to play dress up, if it can be passed along for someone else to wear next year, or if you think you can re-purpose your costume and turn it into something new with a few accessories!

A few new accessories can make multiple costumes out of the same outfit!

Yes, it’s post-Halloween depression. But no need to let your despair get the best of you! We have a few ideas to help you battle the Nov. 1st blues.

Don’t take down your Halloween decorations right away. Many people leave their Christmas lights up until New Year’s. Why not enjoy your Halloween decorations at least through this week?

Console yourself with candy: You should have plenty of it now. Hit up the after Halloween sales and stock up. Freeze the chocolate, stash the rest, and bring it out whenever you’re feeling nostalgic for Halloween. Bonus: a lot of that candy will have Halloween packaging!

Surround yourself with other like-minded people. Sites like HalloweenForum.com (full of Halloween lovers and serious haunters), as well as multiple Halloween Tumblr accounts (find good ones here, here and here and our own Tumblr here), will keep you in Halloween mode throughout the year.

Think of all the fun ways you can incorporate Halloween into the upcoming holidays. Thanksgiving centerpieces made of Gourd-O-Lanterns. A psycho Santa Christmas party. Even if you don’t actually do these things, it’s fun to dream.

Remember: It’s only 364 days until next Halloween. That gives you plenty of time to plan for next year!

In response, Westlake created a zombie decay delay guide, along with other helpful zombie resources. Creating awareness like this among large corporations is just one step in zombie equality, says Jack Philips, living PR director for ZombiesUnite.org. We interviewed Philips to get some more insight on zombies, their habits and predilection for eating humans, and what ZombiesUnite.org hopes to achieve.Why did this organization start?

We felt that though zombies are incredibly well-known through pop culture, they’re not always portrayed in a good light… (ZombiesUnite.org) was founded as a way to try and represent zombies as former humans. They’re former people too.

How did you get involved in this organziation?

I had a lot of friends and family affected by the zombie awakening… I just saw the way zombies were treated, sure I was  a zombie movie fan when I was a kid, but now I look back and feel a bit guilty you might say.

What about the popular notion that zombies want to kill people? Is it true?

They look mean, but they're not really out to kill you!

Well, for the most part, zombies do not (want to kill humans) but there’s always a bad apple in the bunch… For the most part, every day people like you and me, (if) we wake up as zombies, we’re not going to want to go out and eat people’s brains.

Aside from prejudice, what are the biggest issues zombies face?

We’ve had reports of loss of jobs, that’s a big one, you go into work the next day, just out of habit, and you’ve been replaced by somebody living. They think that just because you’re a member of the undead they can fire you.

And realizing that you don’t have to do simple things in life, eat, breathe, go to the bathroom…

What does your organization hope to accomplish?

So far, we would certainly like to incorporate other business, like Westlake, into our cause. Ssecond, we want to spread the word to zombies that we are there for them. Thirdly, we would love to put on some events, we are trying to get funding… we are working on getting Michael Jackson to come and do an event for us.
